Effect of Stirrup on Bond Strength Degradation in Concrete Cracked by Expansion Agent Filled Pipes

The corrosion of rebars in reinforced concrete structures cracks the concrete, which leads to degradation bond strength between rebar and concrete. Since deterioration can menace structural safety, evaluation is essential for proper maintenance. In this study, authors investigated by conducting pull-out tests on specimens, with induced crack width stirrups ratio being principal parameters. An expansion agent-filled pipe (EAFP) simulates due volumetric corroded rebar. One advantage method that it allows one focus single effect an crack. 36 specimens show stirrups’ confinement significantly influences cracks. proposed empirical model strength, considering impact width. result shows EAFP quantify exclusive consequence bonds. Furthermore, coefficient variation 12% without stirrup from Law et al. For specimen Lin al., coefficients are 14% 17%. predict literature reasonable accuracy.
